Mission Towards 2033 – A Call to Collaborate

The Global Baptist Mission Network (GBMN) invites Baptist World Congress attendees to participate in a one-day, pre-Congress Global Baptist Mission Conference to be held on Wednesday, July 9, 2025. Established to create a space for thought leadership, conversation, networking, and collaboration among mission leaders across the globe, the GBMN is excited to convene this special mission-focused event.

Focused on the conference theme “Mission Towards 2033 – A Call to Collaborate,” guest speakers will include Allen Yeh, notable missiologist and Vice President of Academic Affairs at the International Theological Seminary, and Jennifer Lau, Executive Director of Canadian Baptist Ministries. The conference will also feature additional presentations on integral mission, contextualization, and diaspora mission with opportunity for interaction with speakers and other attendees throughout the day. SPEAKERS

Allen Yeh

Allen Yeh

Dr. Allen Yeh is Dean and VP of Academic Affairs at International Theological Seminary located near Los Angeles, CA, USA. He was formerly Professor of Intercultural Studies and Missiology for 16 years at Biola University. He earned his B.A. from Yale, M.Div. from Gordon-Conwell, M.Th. from Edinburgh, and D.Phil. from Oxford. Allen has traveled to 65 countries across every continent to study, speak at conferences, do mission work, and experience the culture. He also the author of Polycentric Missiology: 21st Century Mission from Everyone to Everywhere (IVP, 2016), and co-editor (along with Tite Tienou) of Majority World Theologies: Theologizing from Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Ends of the Earth (William Carey, 2018).

Jennifer Lau

Jennifer Lau

Jennifer Lau began her tenure as Executive Director of Canadian Baptist Ministries (CBM) in 2020. She is the first woman and layperson to hold the position in its 150-year history. CBM is a global mission agency that represents the mission concerns of over 930 Canadian Baptist churches across the country. Jennifer has served with CBM since 2002, primarily focused on providing strategic direction for all of CBM’s partnerships and initiatives in North America. In addition to her work with CBM, Jennifer currently serves as a Vice-President of the Baptist World Alliance. Jennifer has travelled across Canada and to many countries around the world, seeking to connect Canadian Baptists to the people CBM serves globally. 

Adalia Gutiérrez Lee

Adalia Gutiérrez Lee

Rev. Dr. Adalia Gutiérrez Lee is a medical doctor and ordained minister. She worked as a medical missionary for International Ministries of American Baptist Churches for twenty years, first in PROVADENIC (Vaccination and Community Health and Development Program) which is a rural ministry of the Baptist Convention of Nicaragua, and later at Deborah’s House, a ministry of healing and hope for victims of domestic violence from the Regional Baptist Convention of Baja California, Mexico. In April 2015, she began serving as International Ministries Area Director for Ibero-America and the Caribbean to strengthen and coordinate the relationships between American Baptist missionaries and their counterparts across the continent.

Fernando Brandão

Fernando Brandão

Fernando Brandão currently holds a number of roles, including Executive Director of the Brazilian Baptist Convention and the National Mission Board of the Convention. He was ordained to the ministry on September 7, 1991. He holds a degree in Theology from the Baptist Theological Seminary of Minas Gerais and a Master’s in Missiology from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He also holds an Executive International MBA in Business and Strategic Management as well as a specialization in Integral Management. He has three great passions in life: proclaiming the gospel of Jesus, doing missions, and his granddaughter Olivia.

Javier Perez

Javier Perez

Javier Perez is an international development professional serving as the Director of Global Strategy and Programs for Global Missions at the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. Javier leads the strategy function and field programming strategy. He also leads the Latin America strategy, focused on transformational development to lift 5000 children out of poverty via transformational development centers. Javier holds a Bachelor of Theology and Social Change from the Colombia Baptist Seminary, a Bachelor of Arts in Leadership from Baptist University of the Americas in San Antonio, Texas, and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Texas RGV. Javier and his family live in Atlanta, Georgia.
