Elijah Wanje has pastored Ridgeways Baptist Church in Nairobi, Kenya, since he planted it with missionary friends in 1989. Since it began, the church has grown to 2,000 members and planted 22 other churches.
He has also served as Principal of Kenya Baptist Theological College and in leadership of the Baptist Convention of Kenya and Mount Meru University.
He grew up in a family that were among the first converts from the Baptist mission work in Kenya and was able to undertake tertiary studies in various institutions in the USA.
